It was dawn and he was still thinking. His thoughts surged into his mind and he could not sleep. What is happening? Why is this happening? How shall I deal with this?
His children disobeyed him. His wife never asked for his opinion. His servants didn’t respect him. No relative ever called him though he was in the same city as they. No neighbour ever peeped in.
He couldn’t figure it out. He couldn’t find answers to his questions. He was restless. He couldn’t think more. He wanted peace. He wanted to sleep. But he couldn’t.
He didn’t have much money. He had a lot. He had a lot of money. He was a millionaire. But then was he happy? Was he satisfied? If yes, why is contentment couldn’t let him sleep?
What else did he want? Did he want more money? He could just not figure it out. He always felt elated about himself. He always kept boasting about his success.
But sadly, there was no one to listen to him, to congratulate him, to admire him.
What led to such consequences? He wondered.
It was sunrise. And suddenly he realised, he didn’t check his cell-phone since dawn. He was very much into his personal device.
Yes, he was tech savvy. Oh! Sorry. I would rather say, he was his personal device-savvy. There was not a single message, not a single call either.
What was lost? He lost everything. Literally, everything!
He was hurt, deep inside. He realised how he refrained himself from all the humans around since he was 17!
He never visited his grandpa, who loved him more than anyone, at the hospital. He never spared a single minute to talk to his father, who had few days left to live.
He never asked his mother about her health, when she was suffering from cancer. He never felt the warmth of his sister’s love because he never cared about her.
He was so into these gazillion tech-devices that he didn’t bother about the people in his family. He never even wished his mother and father their birthdays.
Today, he had no father to demand to, no mother to look up to, no sister to protect to. It was all gone!
What his swag, 20 years ago, buy him? No name. No fame. No love. No care. No respect. No satisfaction.
Remember: You aren’t wealthy until you have something that money can’t buy.
- What if someday you wake up and find that the one you loved is no more? Horrifying, isn’t it? So always keep in touch with the people you love. Swag won’t buy you ‘them’.
